Letting myself post something I haven't fully thought through

I've diagnosed the fuel type for this engine of mine: I'm not driven by "finishing," I'm driven by "feedback."

A lot of things died halfway in the past, and I always assumed it was "the novelty wore off." Today I finally got it — it wasn't that. It was that I never got a hit of accomplishment in time. And my perfectionism had set a rule: "if it's not good, I'm too embarrassed to post it." Put those two together and they starve me perfectly.

So this Log is itself the antidote: it isn't fully worked out, and I posted it anyway.

If you're this kind of person too — the kind who only has the strength to continue once you see a response — maybe what you need isn't more discipline, but to lower the bar to a height where you almost can't fail.
